Parkside children live and learn in a diverse community. Our school population is as diverse as the communities they call home. During the course of the year, we select cultural holidays representative of some of our families. Whether it be Chinese New Year, Cinco de Mayo, Martin Luther King Day, Diwali (India), Childrens Day (Korea/Japan) or Dia de la Tradicion (Argentina), the children learn by doing related projects.
Parents will be forwarded a notice in advance of a special Cultural Enrichment program. We appreciate any suggestions and/or participation from interested families.
In order to accommodate the needs of families, we offer flexible extended day programs. You can choose an early morning drop off at 8:00AM and/or a lunch hour and extended day program up to 3:00PM. The normal school day begins at 9:00AM and ends at 12:00 noon.
Yes there is an extra charge. Early morning drop off and extended day hours are billed at an hourly rate. The current rate is shown in the schools "Tuition Schedule". An seperate invoice is forwarded to parents on a semi-weekly basis and will show the hours and rate charged.
The school hosts two very special events for family participation. The Spring Concert allows the children to perform the songs they have learned for family members. The Art Show displays some of your child's special work. All families are encouraged to attend and bring siblings and guests.
Both events are held in the Spring of the school year. You will be notified well in advance about the scheduling and location.
STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math. Although students engage in activities that fall under the STEM curriculum every day during the regular school year, our summer program will have a much more in-depth look at particular areas of STEM. The children will be exploring and learning about these areas through art, literature, hands on play, music, games, and experiments
The program details, tuition, and application are forwarded to parents in early April. STEM Camp is seperate from the regular school year.
Days will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Early morning and lunch hour are available on a daily basis. Extended day until 3:00 PM is available for weeks 1, 2, & 3. Week 4 Extended Day is dependant on enrollment interest and may be cancelled if a minimum enrollment is not reached.
